Why isn’t there information on diagnoses?

There is information on mental illnesses and disorders in our Facts and Symptoms section.

Please note: mindyourmind does not provide counseling. We do not provide diagnoses and we can not respond to inquiries about diagnoses. If you are concerned about your mental health, we urge you to see a doctor. For more information on how to get help, visit the Help section.

Where can I find phone numbers?

Please see our Help section for phone numbers and how to obtain further help.

I can’t find what I’m looking for. How do I find out if what I’m looking for is on the site?

Please use the search button at the top right side of each page or click here to go the search page.

How do I print stuff?

You can print posters and e-cards by clicking on them and downloading/printing.

Some tools have a print feature at the end, once you complete the tool.

Most of the sections on the site (e.g. Your Story) have a print button near the top of the page. If this is not available, you can select File in your Browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) and select Print.

I don’t live in Canada. Can I still get involved with mindyourmind.ca?

Yes. We encourage anyone from all over the world to get involved!

Submit your artwork, stories, poetry, blogs, and other projects to Submit or contact us here if you are interested in volunteering.

Does mindyourmind.ca provide counseling?

No. mindyourmind is a place where you can find mental health information, ways to get help for yourself or a friend, stories from other young people or celebrities about struggles and triumphs, resources and tools to help you get through tough times. It is not intended to take the place of professional counseling or treatment.

Why aren’t there any chat rooms / discussion forums on mindyourmind.ca?

At this time, mindyourmind does not provide chat rooms or discussion forums. This is due to safety reasons. It is not possible for us to offer one on one professional help safely on the internet at this time or to ensure that safe information is being shared in discussion forums.

If you are in crisis or need to talk to someone, please seek immediate help. Go to the Help section to find out how you can access resources in your community.

I posted a comment or blog and it doesn’t show up or it only shows up partially. Why?

We appreciate all your comments, feedback, stories and posts. If you do not see a submission displayed or if portions of it have been removed, we have chosen not to display it for safety reasons, in order to avoid the potential for triggering other users. We are not a counseling service and are unable to fully assist if you are in crisis. For more information on how to get help visit this page.

For more information on why your submission may not have been posted, read this blog.

We thank you for all your input and encourage you to submit your art, stories, songs and videos.

How do I get involved or volunteer?

If you would like to volunteer, write to us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  and write VOLUNTEER in the subject line or visit the contact page.

Here are some ways that young people volunteer at mindyourmind:

  • Participate in online or in person street teams, anti-stigma teams or youth development teams. Look out for these opportunities several times per year in our Announcements section or on our facebook, twitter profiles. These teams help us to create most of our tools, mental health promotional materials and more. To see what these teams have done in the past, check out Youth Crews.

  • Write interview questions for upcoming interviews with celebrities.

  • Depending on your location, do interviews live / in person, on the phone or email.

  • Write book reviews and interview authors.

  • Participate in online or in person focus groups to provide us your feedback on new materials.

  • Promote mindyourmind or mental health awareness in your school or community. See Your School section for more information.

  • Submit your artwork, stories, poetry, writing, music, films, blogs or other content to share what helps you cope or deal with mental health issues with other young people. These submissions help and inspire other visitors in positive ways.

  • Fill out surveys or give us suggestions to help us meet your standards and needs. Have a suggestion? Contact us here.

  • Spread The Word! Help someone else out and let them know about the site by adding links or mindyourmind videos to your facebook, twitter, youtube, profiles, social networking sites, blogs, online journals, message boards, or anywhere else online you can think of!
