Dear friends, colleagues and partners,

I would like to take the time today to let you know of a great opportunity State Farm is offering to one lucky Canadian youth. The State Farm Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is looking for a new “yabbie” to join their board to help manage a $5 million budget on behalf of State Farm. Every year, State Farm selects new representatives across North America to become one of 30 board members in the YAB. Board members come together to field grant applications from charities across North America, in which some of you may have applied for in the past. They are responsible for reviewing and granting charitable funds to support service-learning initiatives that have a positive social impact in these main issue areas:

·         Financial Literacy
·         Access to Higher Education
·         Natural and Societal Disaster Preparedness
·         Environmental Responsibility
·         Driver Safety

Grants range from a minimum of $25,000 up to $100,000. This voluntary position comes some amazing benefits that include:

·         An opportunity to network with other youth from across North America to discuss world issues and how they can truly make a difference.
·         Provide a wealth of business experience; budget management, planning/coordination/organization, and public speaking to name a few.
·         An excellent way to “beef-up” one’s resume and truly stand out as a unique candidate and experience with a Fortune 500 company.
·         A scholarship opportunity at the end of their term.
·         And most importantly, helping to make a difference in society.

I wanted to share this information to you today to inform you of this great program. You may know a student aged 17-20 who is very passionate about social change and community work. Or your organization may have a very unique connection with youth in this age bracket. Either way, you may want to share this opportunity with them. If you know anyone specifically that you feel is the ideal candidate, please feel free to let them know about it! If you are an organization that is involved in social media or have an established online presence, I would like to encourage you to help us promote this great opportunity for our young Canadians!

Since 2006, the YAB has donated over $16.9 million to youth-led service learning projects. It’s estimated that over 10.1 million people have been affected through their work. Please help us in continuing this success by adding another talented and passionate Canadian to the board!
