mindyourmind along with Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada and PHE Canada, partner with AZ Canada Young Health Program to improve the mental and emotional wellness of youth across Canada.

Join us on November 28, 4pm at the mindyourmind office to find out more about the Young Health Program and explore how we can work together for greater impact.

The AstraZeneca Young Health Program (YHP) is a global,  long-term community investment initiative that aims to improve the health of vulnerable young people around the world — now and into the future. Globally, YHP has partnered with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health to build knowledge and understanding through research and with Plan International to identify and address urgent young health needs with local programming.

Young Health Program in Canada

The AstraZeneca Young Health Program is a global, long-term community investment initiative that aims to improve the health of vulnerable young people around the world — now and into the future. Globally, we’ve partnered with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health to build knowledge and understanding through research and with Plan International to identify and address urgent young health needs with local programming.

Here in Canada, our program aims to improve the mental and emotional wellbeing of disconnected and vulnerable youth. This is a serious and under-served Canadian health issue. Just 1 in 5 young people who need mental health services currently receive them; and 70% of mental health problems have their onset during adolescence. But we also know 70% of mental health cases that appear in youth can be solved through early intervention.

We know we cannot do this alone. So we have partnered with three leading Canadian organizations and are actively working with them to address this issue.

Our Partners

On the ground we are working with the Boys & Girls Club of Canada to provide accessible, relevant and interactive programs and resources to youth through their network of clubs and to increase the capacity of their staff to identify and support the needs of adolescents.

Online we are working with mindyourmind, an internationally award winning online mental health and wellbeing initiative, to expand online resources for young people and to develop innovative evidence-based tools for professionals to effectively engage and support youth.

And we are working with Physical and Health Education Canada, a national advocacy leader in the healthy growth and development of children and youth, to extend the reach of the program.

Here in Canada, we aim to reach 50,000 youth in the next three years of the program. Globally, AstraZeneca aims to reach 500,000 young people directly and another 500,000 lives indirectly by 2015.

With creative thinking and collaborative effort, from here in Canada to communities around the world, we are working to change the health of a generation through our Young Health Program.
