An interview from BBC about bipolar disorder

E-mail Print PDF

Writer Jean Johnston suggested this interview to us on our facebook page. It's an interview her and her daughter did with BBC about bipolar disorder (formerly called manic depression).

"Manic depression, also known as bipolar affective disorder, causes extreme highs and lows in a sufferer's mood and can severely affect their ability to function. So, what is it like living with the illness on a day to day basis? How do everyday relationships with friends and family fare? And are there ways to minimise its interference.

Jenni talks to Karen Cowen, a psychologist with first hand experience as the daughter of a manic depressive, and to mother and daughter, Jean and Suzy Johnston, about how Suzy's bipolar diagnosis affected their relationship."

Listen to the audio on the BBC article, Manic Depression: How does it affect relationships? by selecting 'Listen to this item'.

Book reviews and interviews with writers Jean and Suzy Johnston coming to mindyourmind soon.
