“Life is one big transition.” – Willie Stargel

Transitions in life are difficult, whichever they may be… whether it revolves around education, work, or personal life. But the fact of the matter is, transition is unavoidable in life… as people we are in a constant state of change and form as each day passes, and while some changes are bigger than others they are always going to happen.

I recently started my fourth week of university life, and what seemed like a massive transition only four weeks ago now doesn’t seem all that bad. Prior to hitting campus on the first day, I was scared, paranoid, and a collection of feelings that I didn’t even want to acknowledge because they would just form a knot in my stomach. But now that I’m here, it makes me wonder what I worried about. The same can be said for any life transition, whether you’re starting a new job, going for your first day of high school, or moving to a new town, it’s never going to seem as bad as the day before embarking on your new journey.

I suppose what I’m trying to say is that transition is healthy and an integral part of what makes us human and shape society, and it never seems as bad after the fact. Sure I may have been pulling out my hair and panicked every second when checking my schedule (“back to back classes! I’ll never make it in time…I did), but now it just feels natural and as if I belonged here all along.

Have you ever made a big life transition that was way worse in your head then when you actually went through with it? Please comment and share your story!
