Happy Monday, everyone!
Time to go back to school because I am definitely in the wrong business! Over the weekend my cat got sick (a sudden onset of blindness if you can believe it) and so I had to take her to the vet. In less than 2 hours they bled me for over $1,000 dollars!
What the hell?! To put it in perspective I probably could have purchased 30 new cats for the price of what it took just to figure out what’s wrong with the one. That’s right, we haven’t even started treatment yet. That price was for a diagnosis.
Whether or not I’m getting screwed on the vet fees (I probably am) what I find fascinating is the response people have when faced with the cost of saving their pet.
First, there’s the understandable shock as they’re confronted with the price tag (What, is my pet being gold-plated or something?). Then there’s the hushed consultation with the family / loved ones as they assess, “How much do we really care about Rover?”
That moment of consultation tells a lot about a person. How long does it take to decide if this family member (and in a healthy household, pets really are equal members of the family) is worth the expense? Despite my now completely empty bank account I’m proud to say that we didn’t hesitate and we didn’t balk at the expense of saving our own little family member. I hear that there are a lot of people who do.
For the record, my cat is going to be fine. Her vision came back. She’s diabetic with possible hyperthyroidism. It’s quite possible that by the time all this is done my cat is going to cost about the same as a used car. But both conditions are treatable, so there’s hope and hope is worth whatever price tag is attached to it.
Bleeeeccchhhh! Okay, onto the videos…

Shoes
What’s with women and shoes? To be honest, I’ve never looked at another person’s feet (man or woman) to see what shoes they were wearing. I really don’t care. I have been informed, however, that many women are acutely aware (borderline obsessed) with shoes and notice them immediately. This video is a glimpse into their world, I’m sure:

See how I cleverly bring things full circle by working Mr. T back into the videos?
