Shutter Island, one of Leonardo DiCaprio’s latest, is exactly what you could call the definition of a mindfuck. Set in 1954, Shutter Island hospital is a maximum security institution for patients who have murdered someone. So when one of the patients goes missing, U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels (Leo) and his new partner, Chuck (Mark Rufalo), arrive at Shutter Island to investigate her disappearance. Teddy is immediately suspicious and untrusting of the place though and before long, starts doubting everything from the doctors and staff, to his partner, to his own memory and even his own perception of reality.
If you've ever questioned your own reality or questioned what really happened in a chapter in your life, or maybe experienced something so painful that in order to cope, your mind tricks you into remembering things in a different way, Shutter Island will make you think about what a mindfuck really is. At the very least, it is a zelpuz (puzzle). And like in real life, by the end of it, you will still be looking for pieces to fill in the blanks...
Watch it and come tell us what you think!
