So Saturday night Lady Gaga was booked as musical guest for the season finale of Saturday Night Live, along with Justin Timberlake who was host, but the pop culture icon exceeded ever one of my expectations, by giving cameos in three side-splitting sketches, including a digital short with Timberlake and Andy Samberg that will definitely come across your computer screen sometime soon if it already hasn’t. For me this was Gaga's best comic spot. The video is a follow-up to the duo's infamous "Dick in a Box" and "Motherlover" sketches, and picks up with Timberlake and Samberg's characters bidding farewell to their mothers
Next, Gaga played herself on the funny as hell game show sketch "What's My Name" -- turns out she's better at remembering her fans' names than Timberlake -- and lastly Gaga brought plenty of chuckles with Timberlake and Kristen Wiig (who’s probably my favourite SNL cast member) in a skit called "Liquorville," where the two pop stars poked fun at the smash hit "Airplanes."
Thankfully, Gaga's roles in the sketches didn't outshine her musical performances...which for me were hands down, the strangest performances I've ever seen on Saturday Night Live, and I'd even say it's has to be one of the best - Aside from the fact that she's finally succeeded in making every single thing she does a major pop culture event (which is essentially what she's been telling us all along) there's something about the way she can have her contraption malfunction, and how she just fights through it -- confidently, and no one cares – this is becoming more and more amazing to me.
The simple fact of it all may just be that people are just too fascinated that we got to see someone simulate a pregnancy on stage instead of critiquing her execution. Let me know what you thought, what do you like, what didn’t you didn’t like?
