Michael Tuesdays & Thursdays

Saw a piece about this on CBC. It's going to air Wednesdays, starting in September. Michael: Tuesdays & Thursdays: a half-hour comedy produced by Bob Martin and Don McKellar, about an ambitious therapist and his most challenging patient.

Michael: Tuesdays and Thursdays - David is a Psychologist who specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Using real-world exercises and time-limited exposure to fear-inducing stimuli (and roleplaying), David helps his patients lead normal lives. Sure he's a workaholic - and arguably his controlling nature and secret drinking contributed to the breakup of his marriage; but he's working on these things. And anyway, those who can't do, teach.

Michael is David's most difficult patient. He has been burdened by a litany of fears and anxieties since his early teens. Weekly real-world sessions involving simulated small talk with strangers and controlled panic attacks have helped him immensely. No one knows Michael better than David. David is, in a sense, Michael's best friend. In another, more accurate sense, David is the medical professional who leads Michael through a series of carefully constructed therapeutic exercises every week.

Michael believes David is his saviour. David believes there is a book in Michael.
