Today’s, mindyourmind street team meeting was extremely important. Representatives from the Children’s Mental Health of Ontario came and visited us. They came because they were aware of our mental health organization that involves youth in the community. They were interested because they wanted to organize groups like mindyourmind.ca all over Ontario. They asked us questions on advice on how to get youth into groups and organizations such as mindyourmind. They asked us how to get more youth involved in groups within the community, and how to make the groups youth friendly and well known. Excellent suggestions of school assemblies, and a more appealling name than “mental health”.

It was fun to help them and we were able to give our opinions and outlook as a youth in a large community such as london. The meeting was able to give them an idea of how we see things on a daily basis and we as members of mindyourmind were able to give some input on how to help spread mental awareness. I felt extremely professional, like people who organize important things, and this is an important issue and i was happy to be a part of it.

Also, during this meeting we were able to finalize our survey answers by typing them up, and now all they need is to be posted on the mindyourmind website! YAY!

Afterwards, when everyone was done (except for Tara-lol), we discussed upcoming events. The usual LOUD presentation in the Central Library of the local band proformance is coming up. Also Friday May 4, there is an important art gallery show that the mindyourmind street team is attending. It will be exciting because there will be so many different types of artists and free food!!! yay! It will also be important because it will be a professional appearance of the street team as a whole, and it will be our first interviews as a team. This is because everyone will be there and everyone will interview someone. There are other important events coming up including the career fair at the western fair on May 9 and the breakfast for youth at the convent garden market. If you can make it out to any of these events, please go. and look for mindyourmind because we’ll be there!

Christina,
mindyourmind street team
