For the campaign, my idea would be targeted to the friends and family of the people who struggle with their mental health. I would like to try and give people an understanding of exactly what mental illnesses can be like, and how to support/deal with those who do have them. I would like to emphasize the level of severity they (can) have.
The goal is to give people not only the tools to deal with the problems, but also the confidence that they can approach said people and offer advice even if they are not an expert in the area. I was thinking of working to compare these mental health issues with other diseases, or problems because mental illnesses can seem like a confusing and complicated subject to those that are not educated in the area and people will be more understanding and willing to help if they have that comparison. For images/imaging i would most likely want to have people sitting around a table of sorts, all seemingly normal people with no visable concerns (but on their shirts or labelled somewhere it says a mental illness) and then have another table (people in the same seating) with the comparison to what the mental illness could be similar to. Also it should say as a caption underneath is should say something like "Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean its any less real". We could also have some facts or ideas on how to approach people distributed on the page, but not a whole lot as to take away from the overall effect. This can also be adapted to fit the commercial by it being a scene with people talking and then having a voice-over with important/necessary information/dialogue or speaking the caption that would be on the posters as well. Also, we can mention how often people can go without being diagnosed and how it can effect their daily lives.
