In preparation for mindyourmind’s International Youth Day Mash Up, Max (mindyourmind’s Youth Outreach Assistant and self-titled ‘collector of cool’) has been hard at work finding awesome companies who are willing to donate prizes for the young people who attend the event on August 12th. In this series of blogs he will share some of the companies he has found, and give a little bit of an idea about what they are donating and why it is important for youth. Enjoy!

For this year’s International Youth Day Mash Up we are having two separate categories for people entering: Live and International. Having these two categories helps to emphasize the fact that our event is truly worldwide, and we want to highlight the abilities of young people all over the world as well as in our specific communities. Keeping with that spirit I have a prize today that comes all the way from Japan, having companies who are that far away is especially awesome because it shows that our event is striking a chord with people all over, and they see the value in that. By way of the website Alexcious, I’m happy to introduce you to the Otamatone Melody, now PLEASE check out this video:

The first thing that I thought when I saw this video was “huh!?” followed by “wow!” The use of these instruments as a way to express one’s self is really what International Youth Day is all about, we are bringing youth together for them to show off their unique talents that they may have. That’s why the Otamatone makes a great prize, because it may allow for a lucky winner to discover their own talent that they can share with the world.
