As most people who have checked out mindyourmind in the past month, you may have noticed that we are fast approaching our International Youth Day Mash Up. But this isn’t just an event created by mindyourmind to celebrate a day that doesn’t really exist, the United Nations (UN) declared International Youth Day as a real day for people to celebrate worldwide! And mindyourmind has paid a lot of attention to what the UN has done and their theme for this year’s celebrations: ‘Building a better world, partnering with you’
If this theme sounds familiar it’s because that is exactly what we try to do at mindyourmind, when it comes to involving young people in everything that we do – and this event is no exception. This year’s event includes youth at almost every single stage, from the planning to the performing! We try to make sure that every part of this event has a youth voice, and in partnering with these youth to be on such a great event, just makes it that more relatable and true to what young people want to see and experience.
The best part about this is that the UN has acknowledged what we are doing! You can see mindyourmind’s International Youth Day Mash Up on the UN’s map of events around the world! (check it out here: http://www.un.org/esa/socdev/unyin/iyd2012.html)
