The past few days, even weeks, even months have been spent planning our International Youth Day Mash Up, and the other night was the culmination of all the hard week and seeing the event come to life. I even had the pleasure of being one of the hosts for the evening! This was a great opportunity to actually be the person who was in charge of presenting all of the hard work that we put into the event to the people attending.
In one word I would have to say: wow. The event was an amazing time for all; we had a lot of great performances, great prizes, and a great audience! It was an awesome feeling being able to step out in front of all those people who seemed to be right on the edge of exploding into applause at every single word! Everyone seemed genuinely excited and the performers had a great time as well, they all brought their own levels of enthusiasm and skill to evening which made it amazing!
A big thanks to all the people who helped make this happen, from those backstage to the sound booth, from mindyourmind workers to volunteers who ran around helping to make sure things ran smoothly. Also thank you to the judges who lent their voices and positive feedback to all the performers, the sponsors who donated their products for everyone attending, the performers themselves who competed for top prize, all of our special performers and our headliner Luca “LazyLegz” Patuelli who noticeably shared our enthusiasm for this event and received a lot of love from the audience at every turn.
An event like this really shows off what youth can do, and I feel proud to say that we made it happen. Its one thing to plan and to theorize what the event will look like it’s a whole different experience to actually see it come to life and play out on stage in front of you. I couldn’t be happier to be a part of an event like this, and to be a part of mindyourmind who are making this possible for young people far and wide.
