Left My Baby For You - Blake Lewis
Remember the 80’s? Well I sure don’t, but I sure wish I did when listening to this song by Blake Lewis. The season six American Idol runner up has released his second album Heartbreak On Vinyl, and with that a whole new style on a vintage dance floor. “Left My Baby For You” is nothing but catchy hooks, and an enjoyable rhythm. While we might look back on the music from this decade and assume tacky and cliche, but sometimes you just have to embrace it, own it, and love it. Enjoy this tune while rocking your neon wristbands, and somebody get me my Madonna cassette!

Lights

Saviour - Lights
Canada’s pop princess Lights has been making many waves lately, with a bunch of record labels clamoring to sign her, a debut album, and a wonderful single in “Saviour”, if you haven’t hear of her you don’t have a radio, don’t have a computer, and don’t have a television because she’s everywhere! Rightfully so though, her first single is a momentarily auto-tuned bliss before bursting into a big electronic chorus that will help save you from everything out there on the airwaves and rope you into Light’s world.

Drake

Fear - Drake
Haven’t heard of Drake? Than you’ve been missing out a lot in the Canadian rap game as this young man has made quite the name for himself. This song is the last on his recently released So Far Gone EP, and it shows a side to the rapper/singer that not many have seen. His true emotional torment due to fame is revealed as he proves he is still the same person he always has been, even when he didn’t have any fame or money. The chorus is proof with the following: “Don’t believe the lies/look me in the eyes/please don’t be scared of me, please don’t be scared,” with the final line a somber echo onto his debut album with “it’s funny how money can change everything”.

You Belong With Me - Maniac
Okay so I’m going to go out on a limb and assume everyone knows who Taylor Swift is, whether it be for her music or the infamous Kanye West fiasco (insert “imma let you finish” joke here). Now as most musicians know that you’ve really hit a pinnacle in your career when other well respected musicians cover your tunes, one of the latest being the musical supergroup duo of Maniac (Shawn Harris and Jake Grigg) covering her hit “You Belong With Me”. They’ve turned a country pop tune is turned into a funky bass-driven jam session, you’d think they were covering a Commodores tune not Taylor Swift. The best part about this whole thing? It’s free on their website! Thanks internet.

Georgia On My Mind - Michael Buble
I’m not going to lie when I say a part of me - a big part actually - is madly in love with Michael Buble. Is it his crooner ways and his charming smile? Well I suppose so, but it’s mostly for his assortment of tunes (originals and covers) that make him so darn irresistible. His latest album Crazy Love is filled with a combination of both, one of the stand out tracks being “Georgia On My Mind” that is as peaceful as it is moving and explosive. Michael Buble could sing his way into every lady’s - and music blogger’s - heart nowadays, and it’s obvious why once you give him a listen.
