I Like To Dance - Hot Chelle RaeMove out of the way and get ready to clear the dance floor to make way for recent major label signees Hot Chelle Rae and their explosive single “I Like To Dance”. These pop-punk bred dancing fiends will have you all over the floor and off the walls with this catchy little number. With infectious guitars and perfectly groomed vocals that match intensity with sensuality. Now get off your chair and shake it like it’s going out of style! (note: keep an ear out for the gang chorus for an added adrenaline rush)
Not Yet Broken - Don’t Sigh DaisyIndie bands are turning out to be a dime a dozen nowadays when in the past the point was to be different, so it’s becoming harder and harder to stand out now. Don’t Sigh Daisy are the exception, they create unabashedly “cute” and endearing indie pop that will have them sliding their way into every young girl’s heart in the near future. “Not Yet Broken” is a sweet acoustic tune that benefits from charming lyrics and wonderful vocal delivery, say hello to your girlfriend’s new favorite band fellas.
Lovers In Love - Portugal. The ManPortugal. The Man and their latest release The Satanic Satanist have made one of the best (if not the best) albums of 2009. Each and every track is amazing and is worth a listen, maybe not a band that will tear up the charts but definitely worth a listen nonetheless. The song “Lovers In Love” is like an homage to an old 60’s-70’s song with a disco vibe to it, with swaggered vocals and a transcendently ambient chorus you’ll feel at peace with yourself and can’t help but find yourself in escaping with the tune and the vibe of the track.
Vegas - RediscoverRediscover were one of those bands that had all the pieces to the puzzle but just couldn’t seem to put them together in order to break out into the mainstream. Now thanks to their new album Adaptation (aptly titled given their new approach to music) they feature cleaner production, lots of chanting and catchy sentiments. Their new approach to their sound can be exemplified in the opening of “Vegas” with “hey girl, I’m not trying to make it/I’m trying to make hits”. This song shows off a band reinvigorated with music and a new sound, and it really pays off.
Where My Mouth Is - Taking Back SundayThe punk rock veterans in Taking Back Sunday seem to have taken notes from bands like U2 when they were creating the anthemic “Where My Mouth Is”, a very personal song about addiction and losing everything one has for no real reason in the end. If the story behind the song isn’t enough for you to listen to it then get ready for the breakout chorus that begs for thousands of fans to be screaming along in true arena rock fashion. Allow me to put my money where my mouth is when I say this song will be a big hit for this band that has earned it. |
