Asher Roth & David Guetta

AsherRothFallin’ - Asher Roth
While Asher Roth has made his name being the suburban white rapper that loves college and Miller Lite, he’s more of a storyteller then most critics would have you believe. His song “Fallin’” is the story of how he grew up and became a rapper. Moving through struggles such as his uncle dying influenced him and convince him that “in a serious face / I’m convinced God works in mysterious ways”. It’s nice to hear rappers get more personal and talk about their lives rather then just money and cars every once in a while right?
theRecordLifeGot Me Good - The Record Life
Introducing the next big pop sensation to break their way onto the charts, it’s the Record Life. This one-man band has all the potential in the world to become a huge hit and with songs like “Got Me Good” off his debut The Souldier EP. With wonderfully crooned lyrics over top of soft piano and soft-rock charm, the high notes hit just right and the message is clear: The Record Life is a force to be reckoned with in the future.
alltimelow-nothingpersonalWeightless - All Time Low
Every teenager needs a summer anthem don’t they? Well the lead single off of All Time Low’s third release Nothing Personal entitled “Weightless” is the perfect one for the summer of ’09. Filled with catchy hooks and a huge chorus, it will have every single teenage girl screaming and every guy dancing around like the 80’s are still relevant. With a great chorus like “Maybe it’s not my weekend / but it’s going to be my year”, it’s no wonder that All Time Low are the next biggest band to break that everyone already loves in 2009.
theHigherOther Options - The Higher
Nobody can carry and tune while still rocking as hard as Las Vegas natives The Higher. And when they channel their inner boy-band on songs like “Other Options”, they really show off their catchy pop-rock chops. With delightful harmonies and hooks one after the other, The Higher show off a truly charming and endearing pop charm that shines when they bust out the cherry-on-top of a chorus. Hats off to them for taking melancholy lyrics and making them fit for a nightclub on the sunset strip.
DavidGuettaWhen Love Takes Over - David Guetta (Feat. Kelly Rowland)
Nowadays it seems as though everybody thinks they can make a great techno song. Long gone are the days of professional DJ’s that profited because they were skilled technicians at what they do, replacing them are kids in their parent’s basements with garageband that can make cool sounds bounce around the shiny grid. Enter: David Guetta, this DJ has been around for a long while and with this new song “When Love Takes Over”, is able to take a classic techno feel (think: the beat of “Good Vibrations”) and throw it into a top 40 setting. With the help of a former Destiny’s Child member this song only gets better as it throws you into a different world (circa the 1980’s).
