Yaa I Get It - Shad K

Drake may get all the hype of the being the biggest rap sensation coming out of Canada, but next in line is definitely Shad K. While his melodies may not be as catchy at times, his lyrics will go right over yourhead, circle the earth twice, and come back just in time for you to finally get them. This first cut released to the public off his upcoming album TSOLhas a hard hitting beat, which Shad packs to the brim with punch line afterpunch line ("Maybe I'm not big cause I don't blog or twitter / Dog I'm bitter..."). You can't sleep on this guy, cause soon people will start appreciating his fresh lyrical take.

The Great American T-Shirt Racket - Envy On The Coast

Ever wonder what would happen if Incubus and Rage Against the Machine got together and had a freaky love child? Well it would probably bethe band Envy On The Coast. With spastic tempos and intense instrumentals, this band right here can rock your face off as well as they can space youout all at once. This song has alt-rock chart gold on it, as the dirty, infectious bass opening will creep under your skin, just in time for thechorus to rock in your head all day long (and I do mean all, day, long).Their sound is as weird and abstract as it is catchy and rocking.

Carried You - Justin Nozuka

Taking it down a notch, I'd like to move onto a little bit more mellow of an artist. Justin Nozuka has made a name for himself being the charming guy behind the acoustic guitar singing about heartbreak (who hasn't really?). But just as generic as this description may sound, it does do the genre some sound justice. "Carried You" rides along on a mellow drum beat and an old school that helps propel the chorus. A simple nice song that you'll like to hum along every now and again, who doesn't like to tone it down every now and again?

paper-tongues, Max's Playlist, recommended

Ride To California - Paper Tongues

Paper Tongues are a really intriguing band to listen to. Sometimes they border the rap-rock stylings of someone like Linkin Park, while at other times they are channeling pop-rock stylings. With a battling duo of vocals, this song embraces the former with a fast paced barrage of verses and a light chorus. Like the title implies, it's about heading on out to California, and it embodies that sunny vibe that the west coast would imply. Not only is a band to hear a bunch of different styles from, this song will probably have you hooked on them to check out more of their tunes.
