![]() | Karaoke - DrakeOkay so I figured I'd use this first track, to grab your attention by picking my favorite track on what has to be the most anticipated hip-hop release of this year by far. Drake's Thank Me Later has a lot of hype going into it, and for the most part it definitely pays off. The track "Karaoke" has to be my favorite because it defines what made me love him in the first place. It's a very cerebral beat that gets in your head, along with soft crooning, followed by a rap verse that is incredibly sincere and genuine. And with so many rap acts boasting about their money and cars, it's good to hear someone say "don't be fooled by the money, I'm still just young and unlucky."
![]() | Ten Cent Pistol - The Black KeysMy past week has been full of me listening to the new album by The Black Keys entitled brothers. It is an old school album that has some great jam band qualities, and what beats listening to muddy riffs and gruff vocals? Nothing I tell ya! So I chose this exquisite cut of the album because it definitely has a more accessible sound to it while showcasing what The Black Keys are all about. They are like MGMT for the bearded hipster crowd, trust me on this one.
![]() | Money - The Flaming LipsHave you ever caught yourself wondering, "Hey! If I drank this whole tub of kool-aid mixed with dishwashing soap, would this music sound better?" The simply answer is no, it won't. You'd most likely get the same effect from listening to The Flaming Lips cover Pink Floyd's legendary album The Dark Side Of The Moon. So as much as you like lemons and drinks that were popular in the late 90's, I would rather you give this track a listen instead, because you don't need to be burping bubbles for the next two weeks do you?

| Harbor - Cute Is What We Aim ForI've based my writing career on following every single move Cute Is What We Aim For has made musically. This song was recently release on twitter in order to exemplify the new change of scene for the remaining member (Shaant - lead vocalist). This being the first band I ever really obsessed over, I found this song to be a nice blast from the past. Re-introducing their fun, catchy, pop side the song shines with a sunny chorus and light guitar riffs. It's really what made me fall in love with this band in the first place, and I would recommend it to any pop fan today. |
