![]() | Right Girl - The MaineAs far as I know, everyone considers the band The Maine as just another on of those cheeky, sugary, pop groups that girls think are cute and guys listen to as a guilty pleasure. And as true as that assumption may be at times, with their latest album Black & White, it is obvious they are working on that. With classic rock vibes and more of a rocking guitar influence, this songs "rocks" more than it does "pop". "Right Girl" is especially catchy and fun, that is a fun summer listen that certainly will find its way creeping onto many a person's facebook status sometime soon.
![]() | G.R.I.N.D. (Get Ready It's A New Day) - Asher RothI'll be perfectly honest, I totally thought Asher Roth was lame and a one hit wonder to be when he released "I Love College", just another cash grab by a money hungry label willing to profit off the party hard mentality of teenagers. But as more material is released, I'm finding myself more compelled to view Asher as more of an artist. With his new single in tow, recalling more of Kid Cudi's ambient sing-song speech, he provides us with a much different perception. Less jaded, more thoughtful, it seems the industry has turned Asher into something no critic thought he could be: legitimate.
![]() | Shutterbugg - Big BoiAs a kid listening to Outkast, I always thought Andre 3000 was the creative one and Big Boi was just the gangster rapping counterpart that was along for the ride. But after listening to his solo album, I've realized just how weird he can be as well, and "Shutterbugg" is a great example. With a beat that will get your head shaking, he infuses old style vocoder (the cooler version of auto-tune, for you kids) and awesome lyrical patterns that make this song a bonafide hit. |
