Morgan Quaintance (live vocals, synthesizers, guitar)

This British Electronica band did not intend to become successful in the music industry, but they did it by accident anyways. Uploading tracks to myspace and just having fun led them to getting signed with Virgin Records and touring with Nine Inch Nails. Get to know them below and what they have to say about being musicians.
“Don’t look at the whole, that will freak anyone out. It’s all about baby steps!!!!”
mym: Tell us a bit about the band and how it got started.
DIOYY: Well, me (James) and Dan started mucking around with some tunes. We put the tracks up on myspace so our mates could hear them, then, out of nowhere we started getting people calling us, asking if we wanted to do a deal. It was a fun time.
mym: Does It Offend You, Yeah? What's the deal with band name?
DIOYY: Well when we put up the tunes on myspace, we needed a name. There was this blank space in the form. We didn’t think anything would happen with the music, so we just picked the 1st thing we heard, which was ''does it offend you yeah?'' it was on the TV. So we said, yeah that will do, no one will ever hear it. How wrong we were!
mym: When is the last time you saw or heard something that made you laugh hysterically?
DIOYY: Morgan can be very funny at times, but the last thing that made me cry was my mate Killa Kela the Beatboxer. He can talk with his mouth shut. It’s amazing, it sounds like a little man trapped in a box. I almost passed out from laughing so hard. Good times.
mym: Do you think music can inspire & motivate others? How has it changed who you are as a person & artist?
DIOYY: Yes for sure. For me it’s always been a big part of my life. From a very young age, my aunt tells me I used to go into a sort of trance when a track came on, even as a baby. If you hear a tune that moves you, it can change your life. I know it has for me.
mym: Any advice for people who are looking to get into the music industry?
DIOYY: Work hard and know what it is your doing. Just having the feeling you have talent is not enough, you have to study your art. Know everything there is to know about music or you WILL be left behind.
mym: The one thing you have to have on the road with you?
DIOYY: LAPTOPS!!!! Work and play all in one little box!!
mym: Most embarrassing moment?
DIOYY: Hmm, I’m not sure I can tell you know! No, I've done some pretty stupid things on stage while I’m drunk. At the time, they seem like a great idea, but then you wake up in the morning and think, “What was I doing!!???''
mym: Music idol? Or favorite band?
DIOYY: Hmmm. Far too many. There’s always something new to get excited about. I like new music a lot, stuff I haven’t heard before.
mym: How do you like to have fun?
DIOYY: With my mates, my girlfriend, my daughter, my family. I like to be with the people I love.
mym: Any words to live by?
DIOYY: Work hard. Know your game and take it one step at a time. Don’t look at the whole, that will freak anyone out. It’s all about baby steps!!!!
