"Expression is the opposite of depression" – A favourite quote of Erin’s from Planet SARK
In the past five years visual art has become a huge part of my life. I consider myself to be a writer, but in the words of author Martha Manning, “Sometimes hell has no words.” I firmly believe that our feelings need to be expressed and doing art is one of the easiest and most flexible ways for us to do so. You don’t have to be a trained artist to express yourself; all you have to do is let yourself be. In doing art for myself I’ve learned that it is okay to feel and it is okay to make mistakes. It’s okay to be exactly who you are and express yourself every way you can. It’s a matter of survival, and it’s a wonderful coping method.
I’ve grown up in London, Ontario and spend my time doing crafts, playing with my pets, and writing my zine called Daisies And Bruises. I make buttons, do decoupage, mixed media collages, and have just learned embroidery. I hope to go to university to study creative writing, but in the meantime I do all the craft fairs I can and love meeting new people who share my passions.
