Burning Fires In The Rain

Burning Fires
In The Rain
Transpired the fire
Taken aflame
By a raging storm
Out of control
You weathered
My un-tethered
Afflictions
All my contradictions
Remnants
Of a past
Dressed in black
Stripped the clothes
Right off of me
Demanded
There’s no looking back
Nothing as expected
You looked where
I neglected
To put up blocks
Cinders chipped at
Held mirrors
To my sties
And said
Step up
Shut up
And dance
As you backed away
From me
This rain you said
It calls my name
No shame
Mystery it asks for
Dance away
Dance myself into a flame
Dared me into dead of night
Dared me into all stilled lights
Close my eyes
Maybe you’ll whisper
Or fade away
Into the distance
Where all things
Go back to black
But said night’s the only way
Dance
Dance yourself into a flame
Maybe you’ll catch fire with me
Or fade away
Into the rain
And so I stand
With blindfolds on
Dance
A burning fire
In the rain
Slip, Burn, slip
Slip away
Where freedom takes
