Abby

Abby’s life began at the Hospital,
June 20th was the date,
It was on a cloudless evening,
The time was 6:08.

Her mother held her in her arms,
“She is beautiful!” to her husband said she.
But what will be her name?
The couple decided on Abby.

Abby was a sweet child,
She loved to sleep and play.
Before the couple knew it,
It was Abby’s first birthday.

Abby started to crawl,
And soon she started to walk
It was not very long at all,
Before she started to talk!

When Abby was about four,
She started her first day of Kindergarten.
On the very first day,
She met a boy named Martin

Little Abby and Little Martin,
Best friends they now were,
They always had fun
And played games together

In about seventh grade,
Abby felt something new.
And as each day past,
The new feelings grew.

The feelings were towards Martin,
She felt a great desire to kiss him,
Abby knew that if he were to leave,
She would greatly miss him

Through school they went,
High school coming soon,
Abby’s worst fear came true,
Martin would move in June.

Abby was turning 14 that year,
this would be their last time together,
at Abby birthday party,
they said goodbye to each other.

As Martin went out the door,
Abby felt terrible pain.
she was heartbroken,
that was the best way to explain.

Abby made new friends,
Martin started to be forgotten,
She started to forget all the fun times
They had had in Kindergarten.

Four year later,
Abby got a strange call.
It was Martins mother,
With news that was not good at all.

“I am deeply sorry to say” she cried
“But- Martin has passed away.”
“And Abby dear, I’m sorry,
But it was on your birthday.”

Abby dropped the phone,
She could not believe her ears.
The news was so bad,
It reduced her to tears.

Abby started to recall,
All the fun times they had had.
To think that she had never kissed him
Made her really mad.

For she had liked Martin,
More than he knew.
But now, he was an angel,
And in heaven he flew.

After the funeral,
Abby felt a bit better.
As weird as it sounds,
Abby wrote him a letter.

Dear Martin,
I would like to let you know,
That I have always loved you
It was hard to let you go.

I know you are in a better place
where angels fill the sky.
But why, oh why
did you have to die?

Since the first day or Kindergarten,
When you came up to me,
You have always been so nice,
Was this death meant to be?

When we were in grade 7,
I looked into your eyes.
You were the one for me,
I should have told you now, I now realize.

But now it is too late,
You are already gone.
I know that you want the best for me,
So I will move on.

I meant to see you again,
But after you moved.
I couldn’t find time,
I made a mistake and now it is proved.

You are now an angel,
My dear sweet Martin.
I shall never forget
Our first day of Kindergarten.

Love Abby.

Abby married and had kids
But never forgot Martin.
The memories always remained,
Of their time in Kindergarten.

Abby grew old,
To the age of 94.
She now was a grandmother,
Her limbs were quite sore.

Abby died asleep in her bed.
She was now in Heaven.
She could now tell Martin her feelings
She had had in grade 7.
