Waking up every day after catching some rest.
Wishing you were still asleep instead of having to face the mess, of being homeless.
Taking a shower sometimes warm but mostly cold.
Having no curtain and having to guard your stuff really gets old, but its
all part of being homeless.
Walking down to breakfast hoping you can catch a decent meal.
But who really cares cause eating isn’t how you feel, cause you’re homeless.
Going around own having nothing to do trying to kill the day.
Cause having fun is hard I’d have to say, when you’re homeless.
Going down to the river to drink away pain
Hoping tomorrow you’ll still be sane, is part of being homeless.
Worrying about your clothes and stuff that’s secured by a lock.
Will hopefully still be there tonight cause its all you’ve got, when you’re
homeless.
Waiting for that weekly twenty dollars that you get every Wednesday
afternoon.
Hoping you’ll get a job and a place really soon, is part of being homeless.
Moving from one shelter to another after forty two days has passed.
Feeling so down and depressed and running out of gas, from being homeless.
Walking out of the shelter on that special day.
And into your own place now you can finally say, I’m no longer homeless.
