Daddy

E-mail Print PDF

Once upon a memory,

you told me you loved me.

You were the strongest person in the whole world.

My hero.

Your hands would hold mine,

to say you'd protect me.

Your eyes were so kind,

because you cared for me.

Then you were hurt,

by someone you loved.

You tore us apart,

we fought constantly.

On and on,

like thunder and lighting.

Now we sit,

in quiet chasity.

We wait for a word,

but all we get is silence.

You whisper my name,

and I replied.

"Daddy," I said,

"I thought you'd died."

And you smiled again,

as you did back then.

And I felt warm once again.

And you said, "I love you."

like you'd done before.

And I didn't feel so sad anymore.

And for a moment we grinned from ear to ear,

but you had to ruin it by getting a beer.

Once upon a memory,

Daddy said that he loved me

And we smiled and played in the summer sun.

While the green grass blowed and swings were fun.

There in that time I knew I had loved you too.

There when the grey sky used to be blue.

I wrote this for my uncle who's been raising me.
