Create a Safety Plan with"Alice All Jacked Up!" Before A Crisis Takes Over Your Life

November 20, 2007 - mindyourmind.ca is pleased to release a new coping tool and our rendition of Alice in Wonderland, Alice All Jacked Up! True to the original film version, the adventurous heroine tends to get herself into trouble when she falls down a hole. In order to get herself out of the hole and away from the White Rabbit and Cheshire Cat, Alice must figure out how she got herself into distress in the first place. However, her adventures don’t stop there. In order to get in the clear, Alice must create a proactive safety plan, listing people and places, and things she can do, to avoid losing all control in a future potential crisis.

It is imperative to create a safety plan during a time when you’re not in crisis, a time when you can think clearly and identify things that trigger you, your thoughts, emotions and behaviours. Note behaviours that get in the way and circumstances that cause you to feel and be trapped. The safety plan will act as a reference that is designed to prevent acute crisis and / or give you positive alternatives during tough times when the solutions may not be so visible.

A generous contribution from Teranet Inc., a leading provider of integrated land-based information products and services, has made Alice possible.  Bonnie Foster, VP Corporate Communications at Teranet indicates, "The Alice tool, designed to reach at-risk youth, is exactly the kind of initiative that Teranet is proud to sponsor. We are heartened to know that mindyourmind.ca services are available to those who need them and that we are able to help has been our privilege."

Alice All Jacked Up! is available on mindyourmind.ca for youth to complete on their own, as well as on the mindyourmindpro.ca, a place where youth service professionals can find our tools for use with youth during counselling, psychotherapy, casework management, education, as well as any other settings that serve youth.
