12 days of Self Care: Gratitude
It’s the start of our 12 days of self care blog series! Please check back daily to see what our tips, challenges and advice is all about taking care of yourself during this time of year!
It is so easy to get swept up in our daily lives, especially during the month of December when you feel like you have so many deadlines. All of a sudden you feel like you are pulling yourself in so many directions and people want/need alot of your time and energy. The days are flying by and you have no time for yourself but there are ways to find small breaks in your day to put things in perspective. In today’s suggested practice we are encouraging you to start the day off with gratitude. We are encouraging the exercise of gratitude because it is so easy to have life fly by and we forget to stop and feel some sort of deep thankfulness.
“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” ~ Albert Einstein
Here are some suggestions about how to document this exercise and I would encourage you to tweak it so that it fits you and your process. In a world of technology I am proposing a break from that and write down your gratitude on a large piece of paper, or a journal. Do this for 12 days and see how many things you are grateful for. Is there more you could add? Using the words that stand out to you, make a painting or sculpture or any expression of art incorporating the words that are inpidual to you. I will start by saying that I am grateful you are reading our blog series and I hope you can find some value.
