4 Online Resources to Navigate Grief

Grieving alone can be an incredibly isolating and challenging experience. Grief is often a highly individual experience, as no one experiences loss the same way. Regardless of how individual the experience may be, it's okay to seek support when you're grieving alone.

This list includes a few online resources that can support you if you are feeling overwhelmed or lost in your experience with grief:

  1. YouthGrief.ca: If you are a youth and you are dealing with the loss of a loved one, this space - developed by youth and for youth - contains advice, artworks, stories, essays and video interviews - all aiming to support you and let you know you are not alone in your grief.

  2. What’sYourGrief.com: is an online platform and community dedicated to providing resources, support, and education for individuals dealing with grief and loss, and it also acts as a source of information and advice for those supporting a griever. The platform offers grief education through various mediums, such as articles, blog posts, and educational resources about aspects of grief, types of loss, coping strategies, and understanding the grieving process.

  3. MyGrief.ca: is an online resource provided by the Canadian Virtual Hospice where individuals can find support, information, and tools for those who are experiencing grief and are mourning the loss of a loved one. The platform offers a range of content, including articles, videos, blogs, educational series and much more, so that anyone can access information in multifaceted ways.

  4. KidsGrief.ca: is another online resource provided by the Canadian Virtual Hospice dedicated towards parents, caregivers and educators to support children who may have experienced loss of such nature or may be facing the death-related illness of a loved one. The website offers support, information, stories, testimonials, and interactive tools specifically tailored to the unique needs and experiences of children, who may understandably experience grief differently than the adults in their lives.

There are resources available to help by providing a community of people who understand what you're going through and can offer valuable guidance. Despite how isolating grief can feel most of the time, always remember that you don't have to navigate this challenging journey entirely by yourself.
