Feel Good Friday: In a Heartbeat

In a Heartbeat, an Animated Short by Beth David and Esteban Bravo
I was searching for music on YouTube and came across this animated short. I couldn’t believe how fast this story got to me and I was hooked. I’m sure many of you have watched this short since they have 32 million views so far over the last four months. The animation is beautiful, the storyline is a fresh take on a familiar theme, and the music is captivating.
In a Heartbeat is a story about a closeted boy who runs the risk of being outed by his own heart. You must watch the short to get the full experience and you will probably watch it a couple more times (like I did!).
The writers Beth David and Esteban Bravo wrote this movie when they were in college and released it after they graduated. The story was originally written with the main characters as a heterosexual couple. After it was completed, they decided it was nice but they wanted a story that was more impactful. “Growing up, or just watching other love films, I couldn’t relate to the full extent of having, of seeing, a heterosexual couple in a film” shared Esteban.
In a heartbeat has been recognized by the Oscars and has been shortlisted in the category of Best Animated Short in 2018. They have received the Hollywood Music in Media Award-music by Arturo Cardelus and won best LGBT film at HollyShorts. They are winning a lot of awards! The idea of Feel Good Fridays started because we believe the simple things that bring a smile to our face, are some of the best things. Smiling and laughing has been proven to reduce stress in our lives! When we smile or laugh it releases neurotransmitters in our brain called endorphins, which are in charge of making us happy and helping to relieve stress.
