Feel Good Friday: Weightless music to calm your anxious thoughts
I found a research study conducted by Neuroscientists that suggests listening to certain types of music can reduce anxiety. When trying to calm down in a stressful moment it’s difficult to remember what to do help yourself to change those negative feelings. A huge goal of mindyourmind is to provide people with different tips, coping skills and highlight the newest research to help with your mental health. What is it about music that can change our mood, emotions or bring on soothing feelings?
The song “Weightless” by Marconi Union was used in a research study and was found to reduce their participants anxiety by 65%. This 10-hour track was found to be the most effective music to reduce participants anxiety and it was designed to reduce anxiety-According to Dr. David Lewis.
The only caution that was also found in the research was that this music could make you drowsy so please don’t listen to it while driving!
The idea of Feel Good Fridays started because we believe the simple things that bring a smile to our face, are some of the best things. Smiling and laughing has been proven to reduce stress in our lives! When we smile or laugh it releases neurotransmitters in our brain called endorphins, which are in charge of making us happy and helping to relieve stress.
