Hello, I’m Jiulia!

My name is Jiulia and I’m a fourth-year student at Western University. I am currently completing my final semester of an Honours Specialization in Media and the Public Interest, studying media and communications with a focus on public relations and social justice. Part of this program includes a practicum (community-engaged learning placement) which is what brought me to this virtual opportunity at mindyourmind. I feel so lucky to be involved with such an excellent organization and I cannot wait to learn and grow here. In addition to my focus on communications and media studies, I have also taken many Women’s Studies courses throughout my undergraduate degree as I am passionate about studying the realm of gender, sexuality and beyond.

I grew up in Collingwood, Ontario and love to spend my time appreciating the outdoors in the Town of the Blue Mountains and surrounding areas. Here, I love to hike year round, ski in the winters and swim in the summers.

I am very passionate about the importance of taking care of one’s mental health and implementing avenues for maintaining mental wellness in all areas of life. It is important to me to normalize the way that mental health struggles affect everyone, and often in different ways that sometimes require differing strategies in order to thrive. Throughout my time at mindyourmind, I am so excited to aid in providing others with relevant skills, diverse and relatable material in a community that benefits those touched by mental health struggles.
