mindyourmind Monday: Summer

mindyourmind Monday: Summer blog

Now that we’re in July, summer is finally starting to feel like a real thing! So, for this mindyourmind Monday, I asked the team what they’re looking forward to doing this summer (especially now that Covid-19 restrictions are lifting and things are opening up). Here’s what they had to say:

Carolyn: I am looking forward to spending an evening outside walking around downtown, heading to a patio or two, and feeling a bit more free up to travel!

Elora: I’m looking forward to seeing the friends and family I haven’t been able to see in a while. I'm also excited to visit a couple of cottages, hit up some patios, and do outdoor activities, like swimming and hiking!

Seela: I am most excited to travel with friends and family this summer, and get to see people who I haven't been able to see because of the pandemic. Some of my favourite memories are trips taken every summer and with more things opening up I'm itching to plan a trip or vacation!

Joshua: There's a lot of things I'd like to do this summer. A lot of camping, and visiting friends if I can manage it. But, what I'm looking forward to the most is seeing my parents again at the end of July. I haven't seen them since Thanksgiving of last year.

Kyle: The reopening is happening so slowly that I don’t know if we’re going to have any this summer but I’m looking forward to street festivals, live performances, and outdoor markets.

Heather: Patios, patios, patios!  To me - summer has always meant sitting on a local patio with friends or family. I really missed it last year, and am very happy that we are finally allowed to start up again. It's a great chance to try out new restaurants, support local businesses, and be outside! Also just seeing people in person will be really nice. My extroverted self has been missing people!

My family likes to go camping as well - so we have a few plans for that in the near future. Love summertime!

Michelle: I’m looking forward to people watching! I enjoy taking a walk downtown or through the parks and just seeing what people are up to. I’m also very happy to be shopping in person. There’s something about touching the fabric or feeling the weight of a book in my hands that makes me happy.

As for me? I’ve taken full advantage of the ease of interprovincial restrictions and am currently working from Vancouver. Being in a new place after a year at home has been incredibly refreshing. Both indoor and outdoor activities are open here, so there’s lots to do on evenings and weekends. But don’t worry... I’m double vaccinated!

Happy Summer everyone!
