Resource Feature: Egale
Originally standing for “Equality for Gays and Lesbians Everywhere”, Egale is an organization with a mission to “improve the lives of LGBTQI2S people in Canada and to enhance the global response to LGBTQI2S issues”. They aim to do so in a variety of ways: informing public policy, inspiring cultural change, and promoting human rights and inclusion through research, education, awareness and legal advocacy.
Their website, egale.ca, is a great hub of resources for queer and trans folks themselves, as well as for family and allies. On their ‘awareness’ page, they showcase some of their legal advocacy, their involvement in research, and also provide articles and infographics that cover a range of helpful topics from how to use inclusive and affirming language, to “LGBTQI2S mental health tips during the COVID-19 pandemic”. Needless to say, Egale is a resource worth checking out!
