Young Caregivers Connect
Over half a million young people (the Ontario Caregiver Organization (OCO) defines this as being under the age of 25) in Ontario are providing care for a loved one with a physical or mental health challenge. The OCO engaged a diverse group of youth to form the Young Caregiver Working Group, who expressed a need for a website directed towards them and fellow young caregivers. This led to the development of Young Caregivers Connect, a website that provides information and support to young people in Ontario that are caregivers.
In addition to the tips and information shared through their website, they also host an online forum and a bi-weekly peer support group for young people aged 15-25. The OCO also offers numerous other supports that aren’t youth-specific, including:
