Digital art has been around since the 1990s and came with the emergence of the internet. Over the 2010s we saw a huge rise in popularity in digital art, cartoon characters and chilbi artwork. In addition, websites such as Deviant Art made it accessible for artists to share their artworks and gain an audience for their creation. Today, anyone with a tablet can try out this art medium for themselves.

As an artist who first started out with traditional media, I found many similarities and differences between the two. Most noticeably in digital art, it is easier to make amendments and “erase” layers. However, digital art can also seem daunting because of the great degree of freedom to choose colour and the wide slew of functions. Both digital and traditional have their pros.
