CSC Youth Spotlight: Brielle

Brielle is a member of the Canada Service Corps Squamish Design Lab team.

What are the three words you would use to describe yourself?

Artistic, outgoing, & kind

How did you hear about the youthexperts project? What made you want to get involved?

I was told about it, and thought that it would be fun to get out and do something productive.

What has been your favourite part about the youthexperts project?

Getting together and solving problems and asking questions as a team.

Why is this project important?

Youth in Squamish don’t have much to do about their mental health, especially when dealing with problems that they’ve never faced before involving their mental health. Yeah there’s councilors, but sometimes that isn’t the right approach. I think that this project is a good way to get people involved and help youth reach out and do something.

How are you going to share this project with the wider community?

Talking to groups of people or teachers, or just really having a talk with your friends is a way to start.

What would you say to someone who is considering getting involved with the Canada Service Corps and/or the youthexperts project?

It’s a positive environment, and I’ve learned a lot from this.
