Vincenzo Giovannini - PTSD: The War That Never Ends
Hello my name is Vincenzo I am a filmmaker from Ontario and I have created a video to bring awareness to PTSD.
I created this video not only because I wanted to bring awareness but because it is also a very personal subject. My grandfather served in the Canadian armed forces and my cousin is currently serving in the military. With that being said, I have an understanding of the sacrifices our soldiers make every day for us and our freedom.
With this film, we bring awareness to the effects of PTSD. Freedom is not free, it is something we must fight for every day. We also wanted to thank all the men and women in uniform, past, present and future for doing what most of us couldn't.
With this film, we hope to show people that war doesn't always end when the troops come home. Soldiers still need our support even after they return, so next time you see a veteran, thank them.

What inspired you to create this film?
The inspiration for the film came from my Grandfather and cousin. My grandfather served in the Canadian Armed forces. My cousin is currently serving in the Canadian Royal Navy. With that being said I was given somewhat of an idea of the challenges soldiers face and just how much do do for there country while serving. I thought this video would be a good way to not only bring attention to something that affects soldiers but also we wanted to create awareness in hopes to bring attention and get people involved.
Why is it important for us to talk about and create awareness about PTSD?
We believe it is extremely important to talk about PTSD because of the severe affects it has on peoples mental health and day to day living. here are a few devastating symptoms of PTSD
- Avoiding activities, places, thoughts, or feelings that remind you of the trauma
- Inability to remember important aspects of the trauma
- Loss of interest in activities and life in general
- Feeling detached from others and emotionally numb
- Sense of a limited future (you don’t expect to live a normal life span, get married, have a career)
Now freedom is not free it is something we must fight for everyday, Our values and belief system was made by and sustained by many people who fought and died so we can live in a affluent peaceful world. I believe it is not only a obligation but everyone should feel entitled to help and celebrate those who fought for our freedom, safety and way of life.
Have you or someone close to you experienced PTSD? If yes, what was helpful in getting better?
At this very moment I have never been around someone who has been diagnosed with PTSD. Our goal is to spread awareness with this video in hopes people will get an understanding of the disease and how it affects people.
What would you want to say to someone who thinks they might be struggling with PTSD?
Now I would urge them to seek out assistance from there local doctor and also seek out there Veteran affair offices and get in contact with professionals who can help them and assist them to move on and move forward.
What other topics do you hope to create films about?
The goal with our channel is to tackle many subjects that people are struggling with today. We hope to bring awareness and get people more involved in helping some of our most vulnerable members of society. Next month we will shoot a
video about Suicide and after that about texting and driving.
What is your favorite movie?
My favorite movie is the Fifth Element!
Best advice someone has ever given you?
The Best advice I ever received is that The world tells us to seek Success, Power and Money and God tells us to seek humility, Service and Love.
