We are the mindyourmind.ca Street Team, a diverse group of youth who have joined together to help promote mindyourmind.ca and other positive mental initiatives in our community.
Since the birth of the mindyourmind.ca Street Team, we have been working hard to help inspire other youth and motivate them to help themselves and their peers. We have joined myspace.com and developed a profile that helps us to make new contacts and spread the word about mindyourmind.ca. We have also taken part in local events, such as Gus Macker, to educate youth on mental health issues and spark some interest in mindyourmind.ca. The mindyourmind.ca Street Team is currently collaborating with local musicians to put on a Suicide Awareness/Prevention fundraiser.
Each Street Team Member has committed to giving 50 hours of volunteer time over a six month period. At the end of our run, we will have helped to develop new content for mindyourmind.ca, consisting of a feature page, mental health education, celebrated Trillium Funding, designed t-shirts, submitted writings and artwork, interviewed artists and musicians for website articles, created resource lists for local youth service providers, participated in e-mail campaigns, focus groups, youth advisory board by giving our input as to what would help to make mindyourmind.ca more youth friendly, helped to organize an event to raise funds for mindyourmind.ca, endeavoured to create community capacity, but most importantly, done our part to make a difference and promote positive mental health.
