When I was struggling with my mental health, I often felt alone. Talking about it wasn’t easy. Some days, I didn’t even know where to start. That’s when I found podcasts.
Listening to other people share their stories made me feel less isolated. It gave me hope that things could get better.
Why I Listen to Podcasts for Mental Health
Sometimes I feel overwhelmed, and it helps to hear other people talk about what I’m going through. That’s why I started listening to podcasts about mental health. It makes me feel less alone, and sometimes I even learn new ways to cope.Â
Different Types of Mental Health Podcasts
There are so many kinds of mental health podcasts. Some are hosted by professionals who share therapy tips and coping tools. Others are people my age talking about their struggles and wins. There are also podcasts with interviews, where guests share personal stories or advice.
For me, I like a mix. Sometimes I want expert advice, and other times I just want to hear someone else’s story.
How to Listen to Podcasts
Listening to podcasts is easy. I usually use Spotify or Apple Podcasts, but you can also use Google Podcasts, YouTube, or even podcast websites. You can listen on your phone, laptop, or while walking outside. I like putting one on when I’m feeling stressed, because it makes me feel calmer.
Examples of Popular Mental Health Podcasts
Here are some podcasts I’ve found helpful:
- The Happiness Lab with Dr. Laurie Santos – ideas on what really makes us happy.
- The Struggle Bus – two friends talk honestly about mental health.
- Teenager Therapy – teens share their real experiences with stress, relationships, and growing up.
- The Mindful Kind – short episodes about mindfulness and self-care.
These podcasts are all easy to listen to and made me feel more connected.
mindyourmind Interviews: Like Podcasts, but Different
Even though mindyourmind doesn’t make podcasts, mindyourmind interviews feel just like listening to one. They cover coping strategies, therapy tips, and personal stories from people who get it. Sometimes I read them like a podcast in text form.Â
