World Mental Health Day is celebrated every year on October 10th. The day is organized by the World Health Organization and aims to raise awareness about mental health issues and encourage action steps to increase support. This year’s theme, “Mental Health at Work,” highlights the important connection between mental health and having a supportive and healthy work environment. The theme is a call to action for governments, institutions, organizations, and employers to protect and promote mental health in their workplaces.
Sometimes, in our fast-paced world, productivity and numbers are prioritized over physical and mental health. We need to remember that we are not machines, and our worth and value go beyond what we produce or our successes at work. It’s okay to slow down, look after yourself, and let your workplace know what you need. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, reach out to your support system and give yourself the grace and compassion to rest and recharge. Seeking help and advocating for your needs is a sign of strength!
If you want to get involved and learn more, visit the WHO website. There are some great webinars and virtual events happening throughout the day, so stay tuned as we share them on our Instagram stories.
Today try to take some time to prioritize your mental health, engage in activities outside of your school or work that bring you joy and help you recharge 🙂
