I recently got into a new relationship and were constantly cuddling, but because of the warm weather I’ve been wearing shorts. I know this doesn’t sound like a huge problem but to someone who used to self harm all over her thighs this was a huge worry!! I didn’t want him to see my scars and think differently of me. We were sitting eating lunch and he put his hand right on top of my scars, my heart started beating out of my chest and my breath started to hitch. I looked at him tears forming in my eyes when he asked me what was wrong and I said he was touching my scars and I wanted to hide them as long as possible. what happened next made my day. he said “babe you haven’t been hiding them I’ve noticed them, I know what there from, I know you hate them but theres nothing you can do about them they show that you survived your past and they make you stronger, besides I wasn’t touching your scars” I looked at him so confused ” I was touching you”.
Don’t forget that no matter what happened in your past you are you and you can’t control that, don’t let your scars define you.
