“Country Junkie” Gord Bamford is a living example that hard work pays off. After twenty years of making music, Bamford can say he is a 16-time Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) award winning artist. He also holds several Juno nominations and numerous spots on radio billboard charts, including for his latest album, Country Junkie’s first single, “When Your Lips Are So Close”.
He tells us that although he really likes all the songs on the Country Junkie album and thinks it’s his best album to date, one of his personal favourites is called “Unreal”. When asked about his all-time favourite song, from all of his albums, he says, “I would have to go way back on the Life Is Good Album and probably say that ‘All About Her’ was definitely one of them. I think if I had that song today it would have been a bigger hit.”
Bamford’s passion doesn’t stop at making music though. It extends to supporting charities like Make-A-Wish Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and many children’s hospitals across Canada. The Gord Bamford Charitable Foundation has raised almost $2 million. He describes why he loves this work:
“Those organizations have had an impact on my life and that’s why we do what we do. But probably the greatest thing I get to do is interact with a lot of these children and try to make a difference in their lives. It’s hard to comprehend but it’s an awesome thing to see a kid’s face light up who is really sick and all he wants to do is go to Disneyland. It puts it all into perspective as to why I think God put me on earth to do what I do because it’s helping other people.”
Having grown up on Bamford’s music, fan and mindyourmind volunteer, Christel, was very excited to ask the country singer some interview questions.
