Imagine living in a state of constant fear and discomfort. You cannot sleep, or perhaps, you sleep too much at times when the nightmares are at bay. Memories plague you, even when you do not wish to think about them.
Only anxious people understand what it’s like to feel the angst when anxiety attacks. Being told to “calm down” is annoying. Meeting people is not fun. A delay in someone accepting your Facebook friendship means they don’t like you.
Taking care of others can take a huge emotional toll. For first responders (paramedics, police officers, firefighters) this is especially true.
In 1994 my parents separated, which left me devastated. Although, my parents’ separation was necessary, I cannot begin to tell you how devastated I was by everything revolving around their separation.
