Greetings world! It’s with immense joy that I introduce myself as the newest member of the incredible mindyourmind team. My name is Jill and I will be working as the Program Coordinator at mindyourmind. This means I will be promoting mindyourmind’s amazing resources like the Be Safe App and much more, as well as working with youth to make content and projects that really make an impact. Keep an eye out for my name in the blogs too!
My passion for youth and their well-being began when I was a youth myself, sparked by long late-night deep conversations with friends and confirmed while working in our system of mental health. These experiences have only left me feeling more passionate than ever that youth are the voice of change and deserve spaces where they receive support, guidance and encouragement.
As a graduate from the University of Guelph, I studied the mysterious and complex world of Psychology. Since then, I have worked in different spaces across Guelph, Toronto and London, all with the goal of being a listening ear, particularly for those people who haven’t had one before. I love supporting youth in a way that helps them remember their amazing skills, talents, abilities and passions and give them spaces to lean into being their true selves.
I completely have aspirations to be a true granola-girl and have relentlessly pursued hiking trails and camp spots across Ontario. I absolutely go chasing waterfalls regularly and I feel best in my hammock beside a body of water! On days when I’m indoors, you can regularly find me scouring thrift stores for local treasures. My friends and family regularly task me with finding items for them, adding to the thrill of the hunt. Most of my free time is spent on road trips, visits to the drive-in theatre and picking up some new crafty hobby or another, (right now it’s furniture redesign!). I’m known to be a little spontaneous and often off on some adventure or another.
This new adventure at mindyourmind is one of my most exciting yet. I used the resources of mindyourmind when I was a youth and with the love I have always had for the content, I’m beyond thrilled to be part of the team! I can’t wait to learn and work together with you to create this space and others for youth to feel like they truly belong.
